The architecture volleyball league has been around for years and years. Every spring, local firms put together teams of varied skill levels and get together mid-week and play each other. I got out there and photographed the team that I occasionally play on, Team Shook. Volleyball is often so fast paced that it can be difficult to capture the action. View the Gallery »
DC/Baltimore ’07
This was my first trip up to the mid-atlantic region to visit college friends Jay and Nate. Getting to DC late Friday night, we went out for some drinks. The next day we did touristy stuff around the Mall, went to the White House, Chinatown and spent the evening in Adams Morgan. The next day we went up to Baltimore and did the same thing around the inner harbor. View the Gallery »
Gaddy Wedding
Long drive up to a little town north of Philadelphia for the wedding of my old roommate Eric. The ceremony was held out in a rural little church and the following reception was held at the Inn at Lambertville Station. Located right on the Delaware River, it was a nice follow up to the previous wedding we had just attended, also located out in rural Pennsylvania. View the Gallery »
Stroudsburg, PA
We embarked on a journey up to Pennsylvania for the wedding of Janis’ friends Jason and Christina. For some reason our flights took us out to Detroit, so we got to see Northwest Airline’s new terminal there. It was so long it needed a tram inside to get people from end to end. Once in Philly, we stopped in for some cheese steak sandwiches before heading up to Stroudsburg. There we did a little touring before the wedding. The ceremony was outdoors, in a secluded little spot in the woods. The next day, we checked out and headed down to the Strawberry Festival, which is held yearly at the Peddler’s Village, outside of Doylestown. The next morning we had an early flight back to Charlotte. View the Gallery »
Snowshoe
The first trip, in what he hope is a yearly thing, up to Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort in West Virgina. I had never skied or snowboarded before so I gave snowboarding a try without taking any lessons. I don’t know if that was necessarily a bad move, but it sure was painful. I must have fallen well over 100 times and was, for lack of a better term, a cancer on the slopes, falling in front of people and not able to get off the lifts. By the time we left, I couldn’t do anything else on the slopes – I was physically too tired…. View the Gallery »
Toronto and Ontario
With my dad “stationed” in Canada, I decided to go up and visit him. The first day I was there, we went down into Toronto to check the place out. I had been there before, but the visit was limited and I think I was an early teenager. We walked a good bit of the city, rode one of the streetcars, and ended the day atop the CN Tower to watch the sun set over the city. The next day we headed down to Niagara Falls. I had also been here, but again, I was much younger. We walked around for a bit and checked out the Canadian side of the falls. It was very, very cold. The next day we caught a flight back to the much warmer south. View the Gallery »
Fall Camping
A quick camping trip with Eric up to Julian Price Park, off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Before setting up the tent we stopped at blowing rock. It was a windy and cold evening to be camping, but we stuck it out anyway. In the morning we griddled up some sausage and eggs, which were delicious. Before heading back to Charlotte, we hiked to Beacon Heights and checked out the view. View the Gallery »
