After deplaning at SFO, we took off in the rental car for the Golden Gate Bridge. Clear views from the Marin Headlands and Fort Point were awesome. Heading back into the city, we took Lombard Street up the hill and waited in a mulit-block long line to go down the famous curved section. A cross-city drive to the top of Twin Peaks provided a spectacular view of San Francisco and the bay.

The next day, we boarded an early morning Caltrain into the city. We walked around AT&T Park and took short ride on the light rail to the old ferry building. After walking around for a bit, we board the F streetcar and rode up to Pier 39 to see the famous sea lions. We got in line for the Powell-Hyde cable car after lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf and a stop at Ghirardelli Square. The cable car was very cool and getting to watch the conductor and operator drive it up and down the hills of San Francisco made us realize just how tedious a job it is. A good way to experience the city is to ride outboard on the car as it goes up and over hills.  We disembarked at Union Square and walked down to Market Street in order to check out the spiral escalators at the mall. A short bus trip and the return ride on the Caltrain brought us back to our car and we took off for Fairfield. [view-the-gallery galleryaddress=”Cali_sanFrancisco”]
